Colonial Williamsburg will probably keep you busy for about two days. The option is then to ‘branch out’ into some other places. Still on the historical theme, you can find the Yorktown battlefield to be really fascinating. Such historical significance, this battlefield marks the very spot where British forces surrendered to the French and American armies which were led by George Washington himself. This started the end of the war and the beginning of American independence.

The sites to see includes the battlefield itself, various museums and you even have the opportunity to see the tents which George Washington and his commanders used during battles. There are a number of artefacts such as old cannons, guns and armoury, etc.      

If you are travelling with kids, the chances are that they may just get a little bored with all this history. Luckily Williamsburg vacation packages has more to offer than just its rich past. This is really fun for the whole family and may even be worthwhile spending two days there. The park boasts more than 50 rides and other attractions. It covers an impressive 100 acres and also includes a variety of shows and restaurants that will tantalize the palette.

Water Country USA comes to life especially in the summertime. The theme is fifties and 60’s surf and it is guaranteed to give you a day of sheer excitement. The Park is huge with many rides, just shy of 35 different slides and many other thrills. Try the Hubba Hubba Highway where you can relax and float for 3.5 acres and spill out into a 2,000 square feet lagoon.  

Even after all of the above sites there’s more to experience. Williamsburg offers a very impressive winery. Explore the winery with guided tours, taste the different types and buy some to take home with you.  

When all is said and done you will find that Williamsburg is probably more than you imagined and makes for a great short break for the whole family.
