Alaska Vacation
Packages

Alaska
is often referred to as the last
frontier.
It’s the 49th State added to the
Union of the United States of America and is
renowned for its wildlife and beautiful outdoor
scenery.
Many people had a renewed interest in Alaska
recently because its their
Governor,
|
Sarah Palin was the Vice-Presidential nominee in the 2008
elections, drawing endless media attention.
But politics aside, what sort of things
should you include in an Alaska vacation
package.
First thing to remember is that although
there are some great restaurants and shops in
Alaska (especially places like Anchorage), the state is
known for its natural beauty. A holiday in Alaska should
therefore be focussed on this.

Fishing
If anything, this is
probably the most popular activities in an
Alaska vacation package. Many travellers have
simply just pulled over to the side of the
road, got their tackle out and started fishing
in the nearest river. It’s that easy. You can
of course be more adventurous that this by
chartering a boat or plane and finds a more
secluded spot.

You can consider some fly-fishing,
saltwater- or freshwater fishing. Soon you will be standing
with a big smile, showing of your prized catch of the day.
Salmon and trout are favourites for most visitors and locals.

Sightseeing
The sites in
Alaska are vast and varied. Among the
things that you should make sure to do is whale
watching, glacier tours, old gold mines and the
northern lights.
These are all very
spectacular sightseeing spots which will have
you endlessly clicking away on your
camera.

Adventure
As far as we are concerned,
Alaska is all about adventure. Some great things that you
may consider doing is kayaking, hiking and even mountain
biking. These are generally some pretty good adrenaline pumping
activities that are great for those looking for that extra
boost in their Alaska vacation package. You can even
‘spice things up’ a little with a dog sled ride. Can we hear
that camera clicking away again…?

Other
Sights
It’s always a widespread
fact that the Alaskan landscape is like paging
through a National Geographic magazine in real
life.
If however you want to a
little change in scenery away from nature, you
may want to spend a little time in some of the
cities.

Anchorage is the capital of Alaska,
but it’s also worthwhile to go to the smaller towns to get a
good ‘native’ vibe.
Alaska has a rich history of various
indigenous tribes that still play a role in modern culture.
Experience local music, cuisine and artistry in a way you never
imagined. This is a truly magical side of Alaska that you
should definitely include in your travel itinerary.
Some other things to do include taking
day cruises on luxurious boats where you have the opportunity
to visit the places like Glacier Bay, Kenai Fjords and Prince
William Sound. Here you will see the coastline of
Alaska in a way that very few people do.
In addition to all of this you can also
find some seriously good slopes for skiing and snowboarding in
the winter time. The bottom line is this. With an Alaska
vacation package you will never lay around idle with
nothing to do. It’s a destination with something for everyone
and a great way to spend a week or
three!
