The capital city of Aruba is Oranjestad and the country’s only international airport is also situated near this city. This is Reina Beatrix International Airport and is located on the west side of the island. Getting around on the island is very simple. Casibari Rock & Ayo Rock Formations
Arawak Indians used to live here and put their drawings on the rocks. Studies have shown that this Indian tribe used to visit the rocks to forecast thunderstorms nearing the island.
Bushiribana Gold Mill
Some consider this a bit of a waste of time, but if carefully incorporated as part of a large daytrip its worth your while. Simply, it’s part of a building where Gold used to be milled.
Boca Catalina and the Antilla Shipwreck
Worth every second if you can scuba dive. The Antilla was a German ship which sank about a half a mile off the northwest coast. It lies approximately 60 feet below water and is locally known as the ‘Ghost Ship’. This is a great excursion that can be part of your Aruba vacation package.
Hooiberg
Aruba is generally a flat island, so a bit of a fuss is made about its highest point. Hooiberg is around 167m high and almost in the center of the island. It’s therefore a great spot for a view of the surrounding areas. It’s also easily accessible with steps leading up to the top of the mountain.
